One of the best parts of having a destination wedding is that almost always the friends and family that have been invited end up being much more involved than a ‘normal’ wedding. Since it is usually a close knit group it makes sense that this should be inevitable, but in Olivia’s case her friends and family went above and beyond doing the flowers, finding the band (friends of mine happened to be in town, Casa Verde Colectivo, and Olivia’s aunt heard them and told them they absolutely had to play the wedding and they were the perfect fit), and even making the wedding dress. Olivia’s best friend and maid of honor, Lindsey Thornburg, designed both the wedding gown and the bridesmaids’ dresses and they were jaw-droppingly gorgeous. Two more long time family friends presided over the ceremony, Anthony Edwards, known to the rest of the world as Goose from Top Gun unless you’re my mom and then it’s Dr. Green from ER, and his wife Jeanine who also happens to be a makeup artist to the stars and therefore, of course, did Olivia’s. It was a family affair to the nth degree and I was so honored to be a part of it.
