Rebecca and Eji where do I begin. These two rocked it so hard. All. Day. Long. It was January 2. Yes, the day after New Years Day. Our towns swell by thousands at Christmas and New Years and the beaches were packed. We ended up taking little side back roads of town on the goldcart to find some hidden gems for photos and it worked out perfectly. We hit the beach on the way back up to Villa Amor and after making our way through the throngs of people we made it back just in time for the ceremony. Rebecca and Eji are the kind you immediately feel like you been friends for years with and galavanting around Sayulita with them was a blast. Kelly and Michael’s wedding almost didn’t happen. The hurricane of the century (or so we were told) was barreling towards Puerto Vallarta as a category five hurricane, the strongest in history supposedly. The couple and their friends and family were evacuated to a hotel more inland and I meanwhile was trying to figure out how to get home from a wedding in Santa Barbara with the airport closed and everything in major disarray. I was able to fly into Guadalajara and from there rented a car and drove to San Pancho despite all everyone telling me otherwise. After growing up in Massachusetts during hurricanes and winter storms you learn quickly what you can and can’t do and I knew that driving through the mountains would be fine. Turns out I was because once the Hurricane Sandy hit land it immediately diminished in strength and all we got was a little bit of wind and barely any rain. Puerto Vallarta Luxury Wedding
The next day was beautiful and sunny with blue skies and barely a cloud out. The business owners in Vallarta were taking down the plywood and tape as I drove through and down to La Mansion which is south of the city. It turned out to be an incredible day without a single drop of rain. It just goes to show you how fickle our weather is, but also how lucky we are to be in the bay surrounded by mountains. In the ten years that I’ve been here we’ve never been hit by a major hurricane. Knock. On. Wood.

Lucy and Mik came to me by way of Puna, one of my favorite people in Sayulita and San Pancho whom I’ve known for close to ten years now. We got to share a room in Santa Barbara for this wedding which was like having an extended sleepover for work. Add to that being able to work with designer/planner Lauren from Nicoella who also happens to a good friend based in Sayulita and northern California and this wedding was one for the books. The Biltmore Four Seasons Santa Barbara Wedding
It started off quiet and gray when I met up with Mik for what was supposed to be a morning surf session, but turned into a swim/run when the waves didn’t cooperate. The sun blazed through as the ceremony grew closer and took place on the terrace of the Four Seasons Biltmore overlooking the ocean where they knew from the beginning they would give each other their vows. I love how Lucy described their reasons for wanting to get married close to the sea, “On a spiritual level, the ocean connects us, literally and figuratively, with our loved ones, many of whom still live by the sea. Exchanging our vows in front of its unrelenting beauty added a level of soul to our marriage that could only be granted by nature.” The Biltmore Four Seasons Santa Barbara Wedding
Check this one out till the end to see the epic dance party ending with the bride and groom do an insane duet and then stage diving. You can also see more of the details and read the rest of their story in the feature on Grey Likes Weddings here. The Biltmore Four Seasons Santa Barbara Wedding
